Release of a new report,“Nanotechnology Research Directions for Societal Needs in 2020” (Eds. M. Roco, C. Mirkin and M. Hersam), Springer, 2010. Major U.S. Research Center to Work on Graphene on Silicon Carbide With AIXTRON Hot-Wall Tube ReactorAIXTRON SE today announced a new order for a silicon carbide (SiC) chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system from a major corporate research and development center located in the northeast of the USA. This study was undertaken to evaluate the in vitro characteristics of poly(lactic acid-co-lysine) arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (PLA-PLL-RGD) nanoparticles (NPs) loaded with mitoxantrone; the association processes of NPs with MCF-7 cells, including binding and effective internalization, were investigated in vitro. Imagine a hole so small that air can’t go through it, or a hole so small it can trap a single wavelength of light. Nanotech Security Corp., with the help of Simon Fraser University researchers, is using this type of nanotechnology to create unique anti-counterfeiting security features. We report a nonmicellar method to synthesize monodisperse semiconducting nanoparticles templated on polymer chains dissolved in solution at high yield. The monodispersity is achieved due to the beaded necklace morphology of the polyelectrolyte chains in solution where the beads are nanometer-scale nodules in the polymer chain. The resultant structure is a nanoparticles studded necklace where the particles are imbedded in the beads. Multiple cycles of synthesis on the polymer template yield nanoparticles of identical size, resulting in a nanocomposite with high particle fraction. The resultant nanocomposite has beaded-fibrilar morphology with imbedded nanoparticles and can be solution-casted to make electroluminescent thin film device. |
